Alyssa's Story

They say hindsight is 20/20. There’s a lot to learn from the mistakes we’ve made, but there’s even more when we reflect on how God has moved in our lives. There’s peace in seeing prayers answered and seasons of trials come to an end, knowing He was with us then and He’ll be with us now.

Throughout my lifetime, namely the past 5 or so years, I’ve been discovering and cultivating the passions and talents that God created in me. I have a restless spirit, always itching to go, see, and serve. He didn’t design me like that by accident. Through every encounter, every experience, He molds me into the person he created me to be in order to serve His kingdom here on earth.

That is something I didn’t recognize in myself for a long time. Often when we’re so focused on what we want we can miss an even better gift that God is offering. We get impatient and start looking for other ways to satiate our appetite. I know I did. I was so ready to go and do that I found forged my own path, leaving God out of the process entirely. But God is faithful. He left His other 99 sheep to bring me back to Him, set me on His path, and showed me the joy and peace that came with being in fellowship with Him. Now I see that I can use the passions God gave me to bring Him glory, and I don’t have to carry the burden of trying to be enough, because He already is.

Be careful not to miss the God-moments happening in your life. Don’t write them off as luck, or coincidences. Recognize all the little ways He’s inviting you to worship and be in fellowship with Him. We were created to worship the living God and called to be like Christ. When this is our goal, I believe our dreams will start to align with the passions and desires that God has given us.

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
